SHHHHH, T-Mobile has new data plans coming soon, don’t tell Anyone

Earlier today we saw that AT&T is looking to slightly revamp their data plans just around the corner. Although the slight upgrade in data limits for a meager $5 is nice, it isn’t all that amazing. I do have to hand it to them for including mobile hotspots and tethering to the $50 a month Data Pro 5GB plan, that is a nice touch. T-mobile is right on their heels though, making adjustments to their data plans only 3 days later. Granted they are being listed as promotional offers. Being a former T-Mobile employee, I know that often times promos like this stick around for an extended period of time.

Beginning January 25th there will be two promo offers available to those of you that know what is going on. There will now be an Unlimited-Premium 5GB and an Unlimited-Ultra 10GB bundle available. Each will provide you with a few extra perks too. If you add either feature to your account you will also gain Mobile Hotspots and MobileLife Album Plus. Which they are positioning as a $19.98 per month value for FREE. The offers will be available for new and existing customers and appears to be a general offer and not a retention, or saves, special offer to keep you happy.

My personal favorite tid bit of info that is provided lies in the second bullet point under details…

  • To protect T-Mobile revenue, do not proactively offer the bundle to customers already on a 5GB data feature who do not want additional data.

Is that a classic corporate move. Rather you, the customer, are supposed to know the promo exists and specifically request it on your own accord. On the bright side, you have guys like us and TmoNews to keep you in the look of these secret promos. Not to mention, if you are already rocking the 5GB plan, you may as well have tethering legally attached to your account so they can’t complain about it to you later.
