Transformer Prime getting another update, this time to help your GPS Signal

The Transformer Prime has definitely seen its ups and downs. Delayed shipping, launching with Honeycomb and GPS issues abound. Still beats getting a clay iPad 2 though. Last week at CES Nvidia did announce to the world that #ICS was rolling out for the TP, so that solved one complaint. Hopefully most of you already have that update installed and are loving it. Since there isn’t much ASUS or anyone else can do about shipping delays, that leaves those of you holding one a nagging issue with your GPS. Good news is ASUS is pushing out an update that is aimed at improving it a little more for you.

The update has started to roll out globally effective immediately. You will be on the look out for build version number IML74K.US_epad-9.4.2.11-20120117. The update will also push the GPS software version up to 6.9.13. If you haven’t seen the update yet, be patient. It takes some time. You can always try to prompt for it by going to Settings>System>About Tablet and check for new updates manually.

We don’t think it will ever be perfect by any means. In my honest opinion though, I don’t see much need for GPS on a tablet. It could come in handy for apps that use your GPS location for check in services and things. Do a lot of you use the GPS functionality? Is it for apps in the market, Twitter or other apps, or are you seriously using it for Google Maps? I ask out of interest, not disrespect. I just couldn’t see someone walking down the street with a 10-inch tablet for directions.
