Snag 2GB of Google Drive storage free from Google for a simple security checkup

Can one have too much cloud storage these days? It is an argument that could go on for decades and not one I am here to participate in. However, if you are finding yourself short on storage from your Google Drive account as it is loaded with documents, music and photos, now is your chance to grab 2GB for life for free from Google themselves. Free and for life are my favorite grouping of words personally. The security checkup is rather straight to the point and simple to run through. It runs a check against your account and displays all the devices and locations that your account has been accessed and then a list of apps you have given access to your account (like Angry Birds for Google Play Games and such).  You can delete any that are no longer relevant. Once you complete the checkup you will see a screen with a series of green check marks to let you know all is good in the hood.

Once completed though you won’t see an instant jump on your Drive account. All users who participate in the Security Checkup between now and February 17th will see an email hit their inbox around February 28th to confirm that your added Drive storage is available.

On a side note, this offer is only valid for normal Google accounts. That simply means that Google Apps for Work and Google Apps for Education users are not eligible. That doesn’t mean you can’t run the Security Checkup to make sure everything that comes back is on the up and up. To get started, head over to the Security Checkup sign in page.
