ViewSonic’s Tegra 2 G Tablet Now on Sale at Sears for $379

It has been confirmed via half dozen YouTube reports that the Viewsonic G Tablet is on sale right now at your local Sears for only $379. Sears is selling a WiFi-only version that lacks a sim-card slot. Some overseas models were also reported to include 1 GB of RAM, but the Sears unit is shipping with 512 MB RAM.

This device features:

  • Android 2.2
  • 10.1 inch TFT LCD (1024×600),
  • NVIDIA’s dual-core 1 GHz Tegra 2 processor
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 16 GB of storage
  • a single USB host port
  • 1.3 megapixel web camera
  • WIFI
  • Like many Android tablets out there, it’s not a certified Google product so it lacks all the official Android Market and, of course, Google apps. I am sure with a little Dev tinkering this hindrance won’t be the case for long. The G-Tablet also utilizes the TapUI over it’s Android 2.2 OS, but can be replaced with a replacement launcher of choice.

It seems like every retail store wants a piece of the Android tablet frenzy. Would you pass on this device or would you get it or wait for the real deal? Unsure? Then check the unboxing/review below. Maybe this might help you decide. Personally, my device of choice is still the Galaxy Tab. For a few dollars more I would also consider the ViewPad 10 instead.

Anyway, let us know in the comment section if your local Sears store has this in stock and if you plan on getting it.
