Ice Cream Sandwich update now available for your ARCHOS G9 Tablet

Three days ago we found out that Archos had plans to drop Android 4.0 to its G9 tablet line of devices. The announcement they made at that time pegged it to land in the next couple of weeks. Just five days later, that’s today by the way, Archos has made good on their promise. Starting right now, all you G9 tablet owners will be getting an official ICS update.

In addition to gaining all the wonders of ICS, ARCHOS has a few special add-ons included. Including full 1080p video playback support for most codecs with descriptions and subtitles automatically downloaded for you. DLNA support and 3D video support for MKV3D files. They have updated their file manager and offers drag and drop support, Ethernet USB dongle support and the ARCHOS remote application, which lets you control your tablet via any other Android powered device.

Sounds like a pretty great update to us! Those of you with a G9 will notice an “A” located in lower right hand corner of the device when the update is available.
