Leaked spec sheet points to upcoming HP Pavilion Chromeboook

HP Pavilion Chromebook
Looks like HP is gearing up to enter the affordable Google Chromebook race very soon. A PDF file was discovered on HP’s site outlines a new 14-inch Pavilion Chromebook. Toting a resolution of 1366 x 768, a 1.1 GHz Celeron processor, 2 GB of RAM and 16GB solid-state hard drive. The PDF outlines a weight of 3.96 pds and pulls in just 4 hours and 15 minutes of battery life.

The HP Pavilion Chromebook seems to be in line with current offerings from Acer and Samsung. With a few different things to consider before looking at it as your next purchase. For starters, the screen is larger than the current offerings. Coming in at 14-inches vs the current 11.6. Which is great to see, but they kept the resolution of 1366 x 786. The HP Pavilion CB also seems to outweigh the competition, coming in at almost 4 pounds vs the 2.4 pounds of the Samsung unit and 3 pounds of the Acer unit. I am not sure that a pound difference will be all that noticeable to most people, but those looking for the lightest option out there won’t be too happy. The PDF doesn’t give us a physical dimension size beyond the screen being 14-inches and sitting at less than an inch thick, so we can only guess that the keyboard will be a bit larger than the smaller competition.

I am not personally sold on the Pavilion Chromebook just yet. We will keep our eyes peeled for future information and see where HP tries to enter the market in terms of sales channels and cost. Even with a larger screen, the internals are pretty close tot he competition. It could do well if they push it at $249.99 or less. What do you guys think? A larger screen and a Celeron processor enough to make you want this upcoming Chromebook from HP?
