Logitech Revue experiencing corrupt firmware Issues, no option but to Exchange

The few of us that got our hands on a Logitech Revue shortly after launch were mostly pleased. Sure it wasn’t the Google TV experience we were expecting, but for the most part served a great purpose. With its limited functionality though the price tag that was attached made for lack luster sales. We all thought that after the Honeycomb update rolled out and the price dropped to $100 bucks they would fly off the shelves. Not so much, but it is still a great update and makes the Revue a much better product in my opinion.

Now that the update is out and many of the devices sitting on shelves are pre-loaded with Honeycomb, we thought all might be right in the world. apparently not. Many new owners are experiencing corrupt firmware issues. During the 7th step where you have to accept the EULA, it is failing. causing you to have a $100 black box with a snazzy keyboard that does nothing. Talk about a frustrating situation to be stuck in. Senior Product Manager Peter McColgan made the following statement –

There appears to be corrupted firmware on some of the recently manufactured Revues which is causing the Authentication error. There is nothing that you can do to fix this and nothing we can do except to replace your Revue via the RMA process. You always have the option of returning to the retailer and exchanging for another Revue or getting a refund. We believe that only a relatively small % of recently manufactured Revues are affected.

There is no word on a work around or solution to this issue. I can’t imaging there being one really. With out the ability to access the box an OTA would be out of the question. That leaves some sort of software file on an SD card to insert and load up, but that would be a bigger pain in the neck. We would personally just exchange the device from where you purchased it and get a new one. Save a lot of time, headache and trouble.

Anyone out there running into this issue on their new box? What about updating your box? I know after the update I had all kinds of issues for a while. I finally just wiped the thing and started from scratch. Seems to have resolved my problems.
