Samsung under fire again, rethinking their statement about ICS on Galaxy S and Tab Line

Seems as though these manufacturers will never learn. It doesn’t take a genius to know that faithful users of the billions of Galaxy S devices around the world would be less than enthusiastic about Samsung denouncing the device for an ICS update. With the Nexus S having nearly identical hardware specs many current users were left wondering why Samsung would leave the device that started it all, out of the list. They are placing the blame on space, with the biggest culprit our favorite UI, Touch-Wiz.

Thanks to a large number of Galaxy S users voicing their dismay to Samsung about yet another failed update option for the famed device, Sammy might be reconsidering their stance on them matter. Stating they will go back and revisit the possibility of an update and look for a solution to bring Android 4.0 to the device.

As far as I am concerned there is a really simple fix. Pull the Touch-Wiz UI in an update via Samsung Kies. Let everyone have stock Android with an option for certain Touch-Wiz apps in the market. Much like HTC did not so long ago. That of course is wishful thinking. There is a second problem with that option though. It may work out just fine for unlocked and international users, but as many of us here in the states know, the carriers will have a hard time backing an update to a phone almost 2 years old. Even though the should run support for the ENTIRE contract you signed, we know that just will never be the case. We will most likely need to leave the matter in the capable hands of developers. Obviously not CM9, but we have a few other guys still dedicated to bringing us ICS.

What do you guys think? Would it be in Samsung’s best interest to find a way to update the Galaxy S and Tab, or should they just drop it and tell everyone to upgrade?
